Best Wrestlers Of 2014 Randy Orton

Randy Orton has spent the majority of 2014 as WWE Champion. If we take 2013 into account as well, Orton is now 10 months into a run in which he has consistently been booked as a main event guy. Whether it was the Cena feud which opened 2014, the Bryan battles, or the Shield rivalry, Orton has been one of the absolute biggest aspects of WWE television.
You wouldn’t describe his in ring work as excellent, but he has certainly been reliably good. He’s equally assured on the microphone and proved an effective foil to accentuate Daniel Bryan’s popularity. Was that because fans genuinely hate Orton or because he’s such a good worker he knows how to get that despised reaction? There’s truth in both those opinions, when Orton looks like he is going through the motions, when he does the methodical stomp for example, that’s a conscious choice to slow things down and irritate the audience. He’s good at what he does in that heel respect, he winds people up.
For sheer volume of decent matches and the excellent Mania 30 and Extreme Rules main events, Randy Orton deserves his place as one of the ten best wrestlers of 2014 so far.
