6 Things to Carry in Your Purse if You Have Crohn’s!
If you suffer from Crohn’s Disease or any sort of Inflammatory Bowel Disease like Ulcerative Colitis, leaving your home can be quite the production—not to mention anxiety filled. The best way to lower your stress levels is by planning ahead and being prepared for the worst.
When I was living in New York City, it was especially nerve-wrecking leaving my apartment to enter into the unpredictable world of constant hustle and bustle.
Walking long distances was involved, catching the subway which has no bathroom on the train or platform, trekking up and down stairs, dealing with the elements and just operating in a fast-paced world became a bit overwhelming at times.
But a girl has to get to work, so you can only imagine the anxiety that I constantly had to deal with.
So, in lieu of such obstacles—and many moments of humiliating accidents and almost accidents—I learned some things along the way.
Here’s a list of things I carry in my purse AT ALL TIMES!
1. Baby wipes
Take ten baby wipes, fold them up into a zip lock bag to lock in the moisture. You can always go with a travel sized pack of wipes, but I find them to be bulky and they add weight easily.
2. Pads/Liners
Take 3-5 Ultra-Thin Pads and 3-5 liners. This is for those unexpected flares and accidents while out. These are my saving grace.
3. Underwear
I always have a pair of underwear with me. Better safe than sorry! I roll mine up tightly so it doesn’t take up too much space in my bag
4. Poo-Pourri
Yup. Some spray-before-you-go odor eliminating spray. Poo-Pourri offers these sprays in cute travel sizes that fit beautifully in a small bag.
5. Peppermint Oil
This oil has become one of my favorites, as I am an avid ESSENTIAL OIL user and use a variety of oils daily. Why do I like Peppermint Oil so much? Because it soothes cramping and if I am hit with a random bout of abdominal pain, I apply and find quick relief.
Reminder: Not all oils are made equally. I use YOUNG LIVING ESSENTIAL OILS as they are totally pure and can be applied topically. Make sure you read the label if you do not use YOUNG LIVING OILS. If there is something listed other than the Latin Name of the plant used, I wouldn’t purchase it.
6. Make-Up Bag
Take a small to medium sized make-up bag to put all these items into it so they aren’t floating around in your purse. The make-up bag allows everything to be gathered into one area so it is easy to pull out and find.
